Patrick Long, MD

Dr. Long is a board-certified family physician and board-eligible clinical geneticist — one of a small number of physicians in the country trained in both disciplines. He completed residency in family medicine and fellowship training in medical genetics and genomics.

Over the past 5 years, Dr. Long has practiced concierge-style medical genetics, seeing over 6,000 patients across the diagnostic spectrum — from undiagnosed rare disease through ongoing genomics-informed primary care. He is the only private-practice medical geneticist in Colorado. Academic genetics programs in the state have 6–12 month wait times.

OriginalDx extends that proven model into full-scope primary care: the same physician who sequences your genome also manages your blood pressure, refills your prescriptions, and coordinates your specialists.

Practice Philosophy

Relationship-first. Medicine built on continuity, not transactions. One physician who accumulates context about you over years — how you respond to medications, how your health evolves, what matters to you. The relationship is the product. Everything else is a feature of it.

Genomics as a tool. Genetics is not the identity of this practice — it is the differentiator. Every clinical decision is informed by the deepest layer of biological data available: your genome. Pharmacogenomic prescribing, genotype-guided screening, variant monitoring, cascade family testing — these are not add-on services. They are woven into every encounter.

Virtual-first. Most care is delivered asynchronously or via telehealth. In-person visits happen when clinically appropriate — not because a billing model requires them. This means your physician's time goes into thinking about your care, not filling a schedule.

The Practice

OriginalDx operates through Americana Medical PLLC, a Colorado professional limited liability company. It is a self-pay practice — no insurance is billed for primary care or membership services. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Superbills are provided for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Genetic testing may be billed through Long Genetics PLLC when insurance coverage is available and clinically appropriate.
